Yes I do.
I usually correct people in their lack of understanding the meaning of the word. They use the word hate because they lack a proper vocabulary to express themselves thoroughly. So I usually give them alternative words or phrases for the situation that better sums up their feelings on the situation that they dislike. What is funny more often than not is the peoples use of the word hate for a person. Although they do not hate the person, only a certain quality or personality trait. Rare do they actually hate the whole individual. And if they do, it is often because they truly do not know the individual, and are ignorant of the persons better qualities.
Your boss can be a magnanimous prick at work, but put him at home relaxing with his kids and he may be the greatest father in the world.

It doesn't bother as much as when they hate someone say a celebrity that they don't know personally.

hell yeah! my friend just always comments on how he hates stuff and ppl all the time and it peeves me off so much! i tell him to shut up all the time.
