Hi! The skin has several layers and to keep it safe and healthy a woman can do certain things. A woman has one less layer of skin on her face than a man and men have one less layer of skin on the rest of his body. ( Woman can see the imperfections through the face skin and don't shave because they would cut easily. Women put on more fat weight than men on the rest of their body. Darn!) Anyways, The top layer of skin is the oldest layer, crusty layer, of dead and dirty skin cell pile-up. It is mixed with old oil from the sebatious glands and can make for a mess on the skin. Pimples, dark deposits, oil and blackheads can occur. The skin looks filmy, older and can have a gray cast. One way to help the situation is to exfoliate. That means to scrub or sand, remove the crusty layer. This should be done gently about once a week. Try not to use something with harsh edges or it can leaves microscopic cuts in the skin than can age the skin. (Apricot pit pieces can have sharp edges--not good) The pieces in the exfoliation cream should be round or smooth.. Feel with your fingers to make sure of the gentleness. Most good skin care brands carry a good exfoliating cream. Glycolic acid in a cream does the job with acids some with fruit acids--Vitamin C serums work good. A good home exfoliator is oatmeal mixed with milk or yogurt and then rub the skin in circles gently. Another is baking soda and olive oil. 1 teaspoon oil to 1 teaspoon baking soda. Then rub in gentle circles. After, the skin will look vital and be softer and healthier. The new skin layers can be moisturized easier and more efficiently with the crust gone. The whole body can benefit from exfoliators. Does that help? See Ya!

To get rid of or remove dead skin. This is a natural process, but exfoliators help you get this accomplished a bit faster.
The new skin underneath makes you look much better (and dead skin appears flaky and dry).
