My dad refuses to meet my boyfriend now because the first time he met him was at 3 am in my room while my boyfriend was in his boxers. It's not just that but theres an age difference..not a huge one, about 3 years, but since I'm barely 16 he thinks of it as huge. I'm in love with this guy now. It's been almost 3 months we've been together and both of us would do anything to make the relationship work. Any tips for getting my dad to like my boyfriend??

oo forgot to add. i did NOT have sex with him that night and havent had sex with him yet. that's something we're both extremely careful about. even tho he was in his boxers he was because he was most comfortable that way. we were just being close.

It will take time.
This is not the best way for a father to meet his little girls new boy friend.
Give it time and do not push it.
Good Luck

If i found a 19 year old in my 16 year olds room he'd of had a bullet in his bootie! You can't blame your dad for the way he feels... come on... look at this from his perspective. The time for you to introduce this boy would of been before you all did the wild thing in your bed room... not after. It will take some time for your dad to get past that one.... if he ever can. If you were interested in making the relationship work, you would not of jeopardized it by having him in your room. What were you thinking? Did you think ole daddy would be happy about it... pat the boy on the back and say... good job son let's do dinner so i can meet you....

Addition: I don't know why people post the law when they don't know it. Stat. rape in my state is with a four year age difference... This is usually the norm. These laws are sat up by the states, and we do not know what state this girl lives. Don't scare someone with fiction... find out the facts if you want to be of help.

Number one: you say you are 16, and the guy is three years older- I am assuming he is 19. This is illegal-statuatory rape.
Number two: Hell will have a better chance of freezing over before your father is going to approve a man he caught in his 16 year old daughter's room at 3 am in the morning with just a pair of boxers on as clothing.
Fact: It ain't never gonna happen. You might as well find a new boyfriend.

Time. Time. And more time. If the relationship lasts, your dad is going to want to meet the guy that you've been with. He got a bad impression, and that might take a while to get over. No dad wants to see their daughter in that kind of position! Dads naturally don't want to trust their daughters' boyfriends, and seeing a guy in his underwear in your room only makes him trust less. But don't obsess over it - when the time is right, your dad will be totally ready to meet your boyfriend.

Wewn't you even embarrassed that your father met your boyfriend in your bedroom with his boxers on?! No responsible parent would want to see their daughter in that inappropriate situation. You and your boyfriend should behave responsibly and respectfully and then, perhaps, your Dad will accept him.

Remember that your dad is always going to be skeptical of who you date. I mean FOREVER. If you and this dude are serious then the best way to get your dad to meet him (clothed) is going to be persistence, honesty and an explanation of the boxer episode that puts his mind at ease. Skeptical FOREVER.

Behave (and ensure your bf behaves) like he is only interested in your charm, wit and intelligence... make sure your family know about your common interests, friends, etc.

It's easiest to do this if you are not spending ALL your time making out :)

its up to the guy, my ex's dad liled me a lot and still asks my ex about what ive been up to, the guy has to take the initiative to make a good 1st impression and then there will be no problems.
