Could someone explain to me why?

Most often, people who carry out suicide are not in their right mind. Legally or otherwise. Do I think it out of the question taht someone could be, and still want to kill themself? No; I'm sure there are circumstances. But usually they have an actual disease. With physical differences in the brain from healthy people. And they can usually get better. It's worn, I know, but USUALLY it is a "permanent solution to a temporary problem". That said, the problem is often only temporary if you get help. Without help, depression cycles itself worse and worse.

There are a few reasons (in my opinion)

1) Shortsightedness - The immediate problem may be in your face, but it is likely not permanent.

2) Guilt of survivors - Those who commit suicide not only miss their challenges, but also the good times, and it makes those who remain feel guilty for even enjoying those times in absence of a loved one.

3) The Mess - That has to be cleaned up and even when it is minimal, it is just plain painful.

4) The Reason - Emotional blackmail has been one of the reasons. I've seen the aftermath. When it doesn't work, what's the next strategy?

5) Loneliness - It may be selfish, but people can't be replaced. Knowing they are out there, even when they aren't with you can be comforting.

6) Jealousy (?) - At some points in time most people would love an easy out. This one is way too permanent though.

7) Purpose - If the purpose of said person hasn't been fulfilled, does that mean that someone else gets to carry that burden?

8) OPTIONS - The main reason I think suicide ridiculed is because there are so many ways to change your life. People can feel trapped in the life they are in, but if they are ready to make permanent change, why not enroll in school? Or serve in a monestary? Or join the foreign legion? Or alter some goals? Or join the military? Or get divorced/married...

Live well

Because they view this as a selfish act, leaving people
behind. that will miss them, grieve and think that they
could have done something to prevent it. This can leave
the survivors feeling guilty and confused but nobody can
possibly know the extent of depression that resides in
another, no matter how much they've tried to love them
or help. The very things that might drive a person to
suicide are often hidden out of shame or the inability
to communicate their real feelings because of possible
judgement, etc. Without this dialogue, a person feels
utterly alone in the world and if people understood this,
perhaps the concept of suicide wouldn't invoke their
wrath.

What do you mean look down upon? Like do people think it is a bad thing. Because there are other ways to handle situations no to kill yourself remember suicide is a permadant solution to a temporary problem. When you kill yourself when it is not your time to go it can be very bad. And plus look what you are doing to the people that care for you.

Some people look at it as the cowards way out. But the one committing suicide looks at it in a completely different way. It's all about point of view.

Suicide is the cowards way out. There is always some type of help out there if the person is willing to look and be helped.

It is still murder of a human being. Only it is by one's own hand. It brings shock and grief to those remaining and is usually a complete waste of a human being.
In some cases, I have felt that it is one of the ultimate acts of selfishness one can perform toward those who cared about them.

Speaking only for myself (of course) I can just say that it is sad and wrong. You are saying, "My life is so awful that not only would I rather be dead, but I would rather put anyone who cares about me through the trauma of losing me then keep on keeping on," it is sad that people get to that point and I think a lot of times people mistake it for people just being mean, instead of miserable, so they judge them.
