I have always loved to read, but in the last few months I noticed that when I pick up a book or magazine, I get really tired within the first ten minutes. I don't have a problem with my eye sight because I can easily read off the computer or watch tv, movies etc. It seems like it's really hard to concentrate and I can't remember what I read, even if it's just a page or two. I never had a problem like this. I don't have headaches, am not having trouble sleeping, I don't feel like I'm stressed or in depression (although I know sometimes you can't tell with those). If anyone has any thoughts about what might be going on, I'd appreciate it.

Do you have a habit of reading before you sleep? Sometimes, your brain will link sleepiness with the actions you usually do before you sleep. Coffee doesn't work for me because of this. I used to drink a lot of coffee before sleep. Now, instead of feeling energized by the coffee, I felt sleepy.

It sounds like you don't have a lot of energy to start off with, so when you read it takes your energy away because reading envolves a lot of concentration. You might be depressed too.

You may need your eyes checked for reading.
