I'm looking for any information about putting a chevy 350cid into a 62 series 2 Sunbeam Alpine. I'm sure its not for the weak of heart but I'm up to the challenge.

Most people probably don't know what a Sunbeam Alpine is. Since it is already RWD you may just have to make your own cross member and tranny mount. If it were me, I would go with the LS1 and 6 speed out of an F-body. Get the wiring harness from Painless and every other part for shoe horning that motor can be left up to the imagination. All I can say is that's going to be one scary but fun ride. If you do any mods to the motor you may also have to go with a new rear end. Everything will have to be custom. But it will all be worth it when you have a car that can beat anything on the road. Good luck and have fun.

First you get a shoehorn...no, seriously, there used to be motor mounts available to put a small-block Ford into the engine bay of the Alpine. I'm not sure if SBC will be as easy to adapt.

You're looking at a ton of work, including engine mounts, radiator swap, frame-crossmember and/or frame revamping, transmission mounts, and rear end swap. Of course, anything can be done with enough money, time and talent. How much of the work are you willing (and capable) of doing yourself? Remember farming out work to a trustworthy, competent mechanic will cost you a whole bundle of money. If you're truly set on installing the Chevy, I'd start by pulling the running gear from the Sunbeam and then do a lot of measuring (compare clearances at all points where interference could conceivably exist (steering box, radiator, firewall, fenders and then fabricate mounts for everything you're going to need.

The results would be a very interesting car (take lots of pictures as the work progresses; maybe one of the enthusisat magazines would be interested in doing a feature article.)

If I were in Your place............

might remove the front of the car body. bumper, fenders, radiator
until it were empty. just the engine and the mount

starting from there..... I could do magic.

( save body panel in such a way that they will not be twisted when time of installing back may come.)
