My friend Valerie is the best. We have so much fun hanging out together. I just wonder what did she mean by that? Sometimes her brother gives me these mean looks and sometimes he says things like "by any means necessary." What does militant mean?

Militant means highly aggressive. It usually refers to protecting or furthering some cause. The cause may be political or social. The means of protecting or furthering that cause are usually violent, very violent. If he is truly militant, then he is also willing to kill.

I suggest that you take your friend and her brother very seriously. This is not a joke. This is not fun. Enjoy your friendship. Keep an eye on your friend's brother. He is a very real and dangerous threat. He might not hurt you, but don't do anything which will give him the opportunity. If he threatens you, take it seriously. Many young and angry black men will murder. The reasons sometimes differ, but in the end it is because of hate. If you are hated, take it seriously. Cautiously enjoy your friendship and don't hate her brother. Just be careful.

Well the phrase he used came from a statement that Malcolm X made. Militant means to be aggressively active for a cause. He probably doesn't know what his cause is. He not sure whether to like or dislike you because of something someone has told him. Ignore him.

It means he still believes in getting rid of "the man" by any means necessary. He thinks that all white people are "the man", and that everything is a plot to bring the black man down.

He's a black nationalist...similiar mind set as a white racist. It's not right but, if he's young, he may be going through a phase. It's not a good one but, some black kids get angry when they start learning about their history in America. Obviously it seems as if his homebase is not that way and he's getting his ideas from somewhere else. Usually people go back to their foundation of how they were raised once they find something else that intrests him. Don't let him disrespect you. Yes, I'm African American.

Based on what you said, her brother probably does not like you. He will probably look at you as some spy or something trying to introduce and force the white culture on the black race or something. Trying to steal black ideas and take credit for it, blah blah. i cant stand people like that. Wheneven they fail in something they always blame the white man.
