i sai 15.4, no to small not to big, 17 is too big for a laptop, and 14.1 too small.

Well 14.1" is typically a normal screen (4:3) ratio while 15.4" is a widescreen (6:9) ratio. For 17" models they tend to be a widescreen also.
It's really based on the end user. I like 15" screens only because the notebook ends up being not to big and not too small. I also have a port replicator with an external LCD attached.
Now 17" notebooks would be better for watching movies and video editing.
It's just end user preference.

Depends what you want it for really.
Wanting it for mobility or prefer a compact look - go for the 14.1"
Ifyou use it regulary in your house and sometimes need to take it places-15.4"
If generally use it as a home computer- go for 17"

if you want it to be portable, go small. if it is going to stay on a desk, go big. the bigger the screen, the heavier, the load
