Actually you are both wrong. There are two bones lower leg -- the length between the knee and the ankle -- they are the FIBULA and the TIBIA. There is only one bone in the thigh. It is called the FEMUR.

A broken fibula is usually not very serious since it is not a bone that supports weight. The tibia has more work to do so it can take more support to heal. Overall, most bones, with the right care, take 6-8 weeks to heal for an adult and 4-6 weeks to heal for a growing child. Of course all of this is variable by how badly the bone was broken in the first place.

Tibia, it's called tibia. The thighbone is called fibula. Yeah I broke my tibia, and it took about 3 months to heal.
