When men get out of a relationship do they go for something better? Or do they settle for whatever they can get? When they get with someone else do they compare them? In a way I do - my husband is 500 times better in EVERY way than my ex was. But my husbands ex is a peice of trash and not so good looking, how could he go from that to me. (not tryin to be stuck up)

Absolutely. Every failed relationship leaves doubt about the next. If the relationship was bad...the last thing someone wants to do is make the mistake again. If the relationship was good, but the other partner ended it, then that person wants what he has lost. It is only human nature.,

Some people settle...others look for something different...some go back in the past and try to correct what they messed up

we all compare to learn from our "mistakes". We usually do better. But some people are lucky and find the perfect one the first time around.

Usually with each new relationship, a person has learned from their prior mistakes & moves "up" by choosing a partner who is better for them.

I know a couple guys that I work with who have been married & divorced and then remarried compare their ex-wives with their current wives.

Not a woman alive thinks she's worse than his ex. I'll bet she thinks the same of you.
It's natural to compare. But usually we've moved on.

it's kind of like buying a car, as you get older (and richer) a guy always looks to upgrade. unless he hits a dry streak then he lowers his standards. also, if alcohol is involved standards can be grossly impaired.

look at it this way. you obviously were over his league. too smart, too beautiful. what else was he supposed to come up with?
i've been asked how i would feel if my kid's dad got himself a girlfriend. my response: i sure hope he does. someone out there has GOT to be more stupid than i was.
