Well, I haven't danced pointe in 24 years, but I remember how difficult it is to clean the delicate satin.

I would try the Dryel home dry cleaning kit. Use the fluid that's in it for stain removal - don't put the shoes in the dryer.

Use a stiff dry brush...even an old toothbrush will work. Brush as much off as you can. If you're using them only at the studio, the dirt could be tap dust from the nickle in the taps on tap shoes.
Don't use anything liquid on the satin as it will stain the satin...even water will leave a mark.
Pointe shoes will never look as clean & pretty as they were when you first bought them, but keeping the dirt brushed off as best as possible & letting them air out in between wearings will keep them looking as good as possible.
Dirty shoes are the sign of a good dancer!

At my studio we don't get rid of dirt, we all just pancake our shoes for performances. That way they're all the same color, no matter how old.

Many people use calamine lotion, heard it works great, but I have never actually tried it myself. Good ol' paper towels and warm water work fine, but it's not really important to clean pointe shoes. If you have a performance, use a powder to cover it up or use one of the cleaning suggests I named above.

i would reccomend Aqua pointe shoe cover, but you know, believe me, the condition of the shoe won't matter. besides, as long as they're not dead, they're fine. you can get the pankake at www.discountdance.com
