It is configured for sata 1 but you have to remove the jumper to make it sata 2. Here is the tech spec from the web page.

To support your application requirements the Barracuda 7200.9 is configured as a SATA 1.5Gb/s interface but can be easily configured to SATA 3Gb/s by removing a single jumper on the drive.

It's SATA II... based on the spec's listed in the manual at http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/manuals/sata/100417177a.pdf the drive has a burst rate of up to 300 mb/s wihich is a feature of SATA II. SATA I has a burst rate of 150 mb/s

It may be dropping back to SATA I speeds due to motherboard limitations.

according to seagate's website it is a SATA 2 drive

no it is running on ATA 100
