My mother (she's dead now) always would say "don't get anything for me". If we did what she "wanted", she would have her feelings hurt. As a Mom, I am not really into a lot of gifts and things, just because I'm not. I do however, appreciate anything done from the heart. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive - but if it is done with a loving heart, I can tell, and it touches me deeply. If your mother has a favorite restaurant, or place that she enjoys going to, but is reluctant to spend the money on herself doing that, then that would be a nice surprise. Anything that your mother likes or enjoys but has not had the chance to do for whatever reason, would be a nice surprise. Just remember that it is always a bad idea to plan any surprise where your mother will feel the need to entertain, clean, cook or work in any way. Planning a surprise potluck is a nice idea if you can keep your mother out of the kitchen. I for one would LOVE a surprise trip to a spa for a nice massage and jacuzzi soak, and then off to a great Mexican restaurant for some yummy chimichangas, rice and beans. But that's just me. Just don't go with "token" gifts that people always think Moms like: perfume, flowers, trinkets, jewelry - not unless you KNOW your mother loves these things. Be creative, but as I said, as long as your gift is given with a loving heart, then she is sure to appreciate her birthday. Your mother is fortunate you are her son or daughter.

More information needed, please. It depends on her age, your financial means, her marital status, but most of all something personal to her, only. Such as an album of pictures of her as a child and various pictures from then through the present time. When my mother turned 70 we were tired of all the dinners out and parties. So, instead her gift(s) was a letter from each of her children and grandchildren. We entitled the letters "Memories". It was wonderful for all of us to see what each other had written. Small grandchildren wrote picture cards. We had a pot luck dinner at home for just the family - no friends or neighbors. It was so personal and so wonderful! (We loved watching her cry. LOL) HOW'S THAT FOR AN IDEA? She passed away at age 83 and she never had a better birthday, she said. We occasionally re-read the letters. Good luck!

I'd say it really depends on your budget and what your mom's type
is. If she loves reading books, you can give her some bestsellers or a book collections of poetry. If she loves plants, you can buy her some which she still doesn't have but most of all I think that on that special day you can make her a queen. Meaning you pamper her, do her chores for her and cook her favorite dish or bake her a cake. And instead of buying a birthday card, you can perhaps try to express your love and gratitude for her in a simple poem. It really depends...

Hello,I think the best thing you can do is tell her how much you love her,and how happy you are to have her,and some Flowers would help, but I am sure its more import-end for her to know that you love her,and there is no Present yet that comes close to reward a Mother for her Love, have a nice Birthday with your Mom,Karl

I agree with the day spa. Or even just a manicure and pedicure with a nice lunch out for the two of you. Take her somewhere she would like but would never think of like a concert or play. Make something personal like a picture, or take one of her favorite photographs (perhaps of family when she was a little girl) and have it blown up and framed.

I'm a mom and by boys often buy me plants, or take me out to dinner. how about dinner and a movie, spend the day with her, do some household chore she's been putting off. How about getting flowers delivered?

It would help to know mom's age and marital status but every girl loves to be pampered. How about a day spa?

get her a puzzel - if she likes them-
on walmart.com you can make picture puzzels.
get her favorite photo and turn it into a puzzel. some puzzel glue and a frame.
they also have cards, blankets, mugs, calanders...check it out.
only thing is it will take a week or so, so you have to order early.
