It looked like a drama to me. Sad moments.

Great question! I loved the movie.
I say it's a definite comedy with a tinge of drama.
If I had to choose one, I'd say comedy.
First thing, check out everything grandpa says. You know that conversation in the car between Dwayne, Frank, and him in which he's like "dont ever snort heroin, when you're young you're crazy to do that ****" and then he's asked "what about you?" and he's like "when you're old, you're crazy not to do it".
As well, as the whole "You stopped talking because of Friedrich Nietzche? Far out."
and the "Yes, Olive, Im madly in love with you and not only because of your brains and personality!".
I dont know, I guess I could keep on going.
I would say it's more of a subtle comedy than a drama.

Drama/comedy..it was so sad all the familys problems they had and at some points it was really funny

I suppose it is a comedy- there were some very funny scenes. However, there were also some serious topics and sad moments. I was shocked when the grandpa died, but they made it funny by carrying him around in the back of the van.

i would say comedie-drama as the movie has a comedie line with a deep sence of drama and life lessons in it.

I just got done watching it and the closest genre it comes to is Dark Comedy. You wouldn't have any idea from the previews, the R rating is the only clue to this.
