It depends what state you're in. In Maryland, Driver's ED is a requirement if taken in HS or at a Driving School.

I do not not see high schools these days offering drivers ed because of budget problems and levys not passing.
I took drivers ed from a private driving school.look in the
yellow pages under driving instruction.

You would be better of if you took it at school. Now a days a lot of schools do not have it anymore. If you do not take it in school you are going to have to pay for it and it is expensive

it is a requirement if you are in high school, but there are equivelint testing available when you apply for your licence.
