I particularly dislike when people are too lazy to make up a unique new name for some kind of an innovation, no matter how small time, and end up hybridizing existing words.
For example, a tined spoon can be used to eat yogurt or chunks of fruit -- is it spoon? is it a fork? No, some idiot decided to call it a "spork", ruining a perfectly good invention.
Back a couple of decades ago someone decided to freeze yogurt to the consistency of soft-serve ice cream. "Frozen yogurt" would have been just fine, but a marketing genius coined the term "Frogurt". May God save our contry from marketeers...

Yes I have a few. The words "team player" have become very over-used, as has the term "going forward" which seems to appear in every work e-mail I get. It drives me nuts to hear people use the word "like" every other second. And in here, all the misspellings drive me crazy - for example, there is no such thing as "whut". Correct grammar is going down the tubes and it's not pretty.

here's the word i hate:
"entertain" like when people on home shows say "we'd like this room to be a place to entertain..." like they're gonna put on top hats and this spot light is gonna come out of the ceiling and they're gonna start tap dancing to "hello my baby, hello my darlin', hello my ragtime gal!"
you're not going to "entertain" in that room, you're gonna serve beer probably out of a keg. when did people start using "entertain" for that purpose anyway!?
