There is a 50 page section on Denis Diderot in Will/Ariel Durant's Story of Civilization in the Volume entitled The Age of Voltaire. It is volume 9 in the series, and the section is called "Diderot and the Encyclopedie".

Your local library system will most likely have a copy and it will give you a very good start, along with a lot of other places to look for information.

See if you can find these:

Lilo K. Luxembourg. Francis Bacon and Denis Diderot. Munksgaard, 1967.

Penguin Classics has some Diderot books, and always have some biographical pieces you could use:

Rameau's Nephew and D'Alembert's Dream. 1976. and The Nun, 1974.

There is a translation by David Coward in the Oxford World's Classics by Diderot called Jacques the Fatalist and His Master, 1999.

Arno Press did something in 1980 called Theater Architecture and Stage Design, which reproduced illustrations and pages from Supplement de l'Encyclopedie edited by Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert
