I have a free refurbished IBM Thinkpad iseries 1500 that once had win98 installed. The entire hard drive was wiped out and I am trying to parttion the hard drive to put win98 back on, but keep getting a non-system disk error when I put the cd in... Help!!

Check your Bios and change the boot order to cd first before hard drive or floppy.

i believe you cannot boot from the win98 cd..try installing xp instead..or use a different pc to make a win98 floppy boot disk.

configure your bios to first boot from your cd drive, then make a scandisk you will find the error, win98 is the best tool to troubleshoot a system...

Check the IBM support website with the model number of you laptop. That is the best way to find your answer

Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
