I suspect you are in the minority, though I find your commitment commendable.
My husband and I aren't parents yet, and we don't plan on tossing out the TV. However, we do hope to provide a good example to our children regarding responsible television use. A full 80% of the programming we watch is on PBS. We believe it is important to be informed about events in the world as they unfold, and we enjoy educating ourselves through documentaries.
Television can be positive or detrimental just like the internet, radio, or any other source of media. The key is to provide a balanced example.

I grew up with parents who didn't like TV, much except very special shows that were wholesome.and they taught us to watch good shows not trash, i don't like nasty trashy ,stuff, I like good decent shows. I do watch TV, but i would rather read or play guitar or write or something other then a show on TV, I go door to door sales for 18 years now and its a shame how people or in the homes, watching a box when they could be doing something useful, like getting the children to play outside. and its a lot of propaganda theses days its subtle but its propaganda, Good luck to Y'all.I'll bet your children or fine people.also I have a Friend like you .he and his wife raised two fine boys and they both went to collage. My friend paints paintings for a living, and his wife also, people dont need tv,Peace.

I would love to get rid of our TV. But my husband thinks of TV as oxygen or something. TV nowadays has nothing but sex subjects on every show! Cartoons even have to be watched before my child can view them to make sure they are clean! That's bad! I respect people who can go without one. Hats off to you!
