Doctors do this procedure differently so the best bet would be to contact her office and find out how the procedure was done. The cauterization of burning was started because there were problems with just tying them off and this was resulting in preganancy that was totally unexpected.

Hello,
Tubaligation means a method of female sterilization to have
no more children.

Tabaligation can be done different ways and can be reversed

1.) You can have them cut, cauterized (burned) then tied.
This form is done I believe by laser now.
2.) Just tied. So later on if decide would like more children
can do so. Sometimes is not so good of an idea as you
could face with problems such as tubaligation pregnancy,
scaring from the knot is so server it leaves the tubes
damaged.Beyond repair.
3.) Clamp the tubes, slimmer chance of tubal pregnancy
both once again damaged tubes.
I myself had the cut tied burnt 36 years ago. Was in the hospital 6 days (now today day surgery back home and back to work in 6 days . If lucky.
Small amount of pain today as it's performed by laser and next to none scaring.
They may even perform it from your belly button.

Trying not to scare you and taking that all in to consideration I hope I didn't scare you? But remember all surgery can be serous.
SO GIVE IT GREAT Deal Of THOUGHT. For today, tomorrow and the future.

Take care good luck
Sandra

tubal ligation can be done by just tying ur fallopian tube or by cutting it.

Tubal ligation is surgery to close a woman's fallopian tubes, the tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus. The procedure is commonly known as "tying the tubes."

Normally, a woman's fallopian tubes moves eggs from the ovary to the uterus about once a month. If a man's sperm meets up with an egg, pregnancy can result. If the tubes are closed, or "tied," sperm cannot fertilize an egg, and pregnancy will not occur.

Tubal ligation makes a woman permanently sterile (unable to get pregnant).

Tubal ligation is an operation to stop a woman from getting pregnant. It is PERMANENT. Therefore, you should only consider this procedure if you are sure you will never want another child. The Fallopian tubes, which carry the eggs from the ovary to the womb (uterus), are burned, clipped, cut or tied (the tubes are sealed). The tubes are therefore closed so the sperm and egg do not meet. The egg then dissolves and is absorbed by the body.

Ligation means to cut. If this is what you asked for as a means of birth control/sterilization you should have done some more research and been sure of what you were asking for before the doctor did the surgery. When they cut, they usually do also cauterize in an attempt to prevent the tubes from repairing themselves and growing back together. On rare occasions, years later, the tubes can reconnect and surprise pregnancies can occur. In some rare instances these can be reversed, but that is a very expensive and unreliable procedure.

" Tubal ligation (two words) is done in the hospital or outpatient clinic while you are under anesthesia. The surgeon will make one or two small cuts in your belly area, usually around the belly button. A laparoscope, a narrow tube with a camera on the end, is inserted into the pelvic area. Instruments to tie the tubes are sent thru the laparoscope. The tubes are either burned shut (cauterized) or shut off with a small clip."

What your doctor did may be dictated by the physical conditions inside of you. He/she did whatever needed to be done for your health and best chance at a healthy life (avoid tubular pregnancy, etc)

Tubaligation means to apply a ligature or tie to the fallopian tube. It is a generic name for the operation. Depending on what process your doctor did, it could be either a simple tie/crimping of the tube to prevent an egg from leaving the ovary to the Pomeroy where they crimp the tube and move a section of it. There are five different commonly used technique to create a Tubaligation. You'd have to ask your doctor which one he employed.

A tubal includes cutting the tubes (there are 2 of those) then cauterizing the ends of each tube. You don't have to ask your doctor; he should have explained this to you before surgery. In other words, there is a space in your tubes so there is no chance of getting pregnant. The cauterizing is done with an electronic scapel and that keeps the area from bleeding. Hope that clears it up for you. Godloveya.

Tubaligation is the general term for any surgical procedure that blocks the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. Ligation means to apply a ligature or tie, and tubal ligation is often called "tying" the tubes.

I don't know of a reason why your doctor would cauterize them also but you have to ask him what method he used...
