to me they aren't ultimate rivals, other than last years playoffs they really had no history against each other. I would say the Mavs/Spurs is a much better rivalry seeing they've both been good for hte past 5-6 years, and are located close to each other. Now if the Suns and Lakers play again the in playoffs and it's close again then we can start talking more about them being great rivals

Uhh...what? A rivalry does not happen over night. The Suns have become a powerhouse as the Lakers had just come back to earth. Give it a few years for the Lakers to get back on the high horse and they can battle out for the division. Ultimate Rivals are the 80's lakers vs celtic, 90's chicago vs knicks the early part of this century the lakers vs. the east.

They aren't excatly ultimate rivals, but rivals to say the least. They had a feud with last years playoffs where there were amazing plays and angry comments. They're in the same division and they're trying to win the first spot right now. But to be honest, ultimate rivals should be on Dallas and Phoenix, Detroit and San Antonio and Miami with LA.

They are not, I think people like you are trying to make them rivals. The Lakers have a winning history, they never compare themselves to anyone, everyone else is compared to Lakers
The Laker and Kobe are very popular, regardless of the question, if it is pertaining to basketball you better believe Lakers and Kobe will be mentioned. So many say they don't like Kobe, but they are always comparing him.
Laker are from the state everyone loves to hate.....L.A
I LOVE L.A.

They are not. The Lakers are not up to the Mavericks or Spurs. Those are the Sun rivals currently.

I never knew they were. The Suns never win anything, so I don't think the Lakers have ever looked at them as much of a rival.

Ummm... I don't think they are.
I'd give the Mavs as the Suns' rivals, and Miami as LA's.
