I think this is one of those myths put out there buy the oil and gas industry. Like changing oil every 3 thousand - yah in an american car maybe. (VW Diesels factory reccomend 10 thousand miles) .

The hardest thing you can do to a car is start it. once it is started scrape the winodws (if required) and go. If this is hard on you car get a car that can handle cold like something from Germany.

I was told that the best on the newer cars it is better to just go after you have it started this was also stated over a TV mechanic show.

As it should say in your owners manual today's cars don't require a warm up period. You just need to take it easy (driving wise) until it reaches full operating temperature.

Id wait 5-10 minutes cold can be vicious on a motors parts

Start and go but dont drive the engine hard (high speed or high rev the RPM) until engine is in operating temp.
