If you want to go professional...about 3 years old. Some people even start at two. If they are old enough to follow simple directions, copy what someone else is doing, listen, focus and keep attention, and maybe memorize a word or two....they are old enought to start ballet. If you'd rather do it just for fun and see how far you can go with it...than its NEVER too late as long as you can stand on your toes. If your trying to decide whether or not you should take up lessons....go for it!

There never is a right time to start ballet. I started when I was about 3 years old. It's all a matter of how much you can comprehend in a short time, and how hard you are willing to work. But if you are talking about Pointe, it is best to start after a few years of ballet training. You should wait until you are a teenager.

You can start at any age, but between the ages of 3-5 is the best if you want a career in ballet. If you want to do it for fun, though, you can start whenver.

I think you are old enough to start at 3 to maybe 4 that's the age where they fully listen.

In my town, kids can start lessons around 3 years. I think I'll start my daughter in the fall - she'll be 4 by then. She didn't want to start them last Sept but is asking to join now.
