These are the 10 most underrated cards in the game. I say this because these
are cards that rarely if ever see play in today's meta-game.
1. 'Autonomous Action Unit' (MFC Common/Spell Card)
TEXT: 'Pay 1500 Life Points. Select 1 Monster Card from your opponent's
Graveyard, Special Summon it on your side of the field in face-up Attack
Position, and equip it with this card. When this card is destroyed or
removed from the field, the equipped monster is destroyed.'
This card was just tossed aside into their pile of commons when duellists
pulled this out of their booster pack. This card was neglected at the time
maybe because of it's 1500 LP cost to revive an opponent's monster since we
were allowed to use Monster Reborn to do the same thing. But now with the
Ban List in effect in most stores, this card can really put a hurt on your
opponent when you revive their strongest monster and use it against them.
Just like 'Premature Burial' (PSV Ultra Rare), this card is not that good
late in the game if your Life Points are low..
2. 'Trap Hole' (LOB Super Rare/Trap Card)
TEXT: 'If the ATK of a monster summoned by your opponent (excluding Special
Summon) is 1000 points or more, the monster is destroyed.'
An oldie but goodie. You never see this card in play except for newbies who
just picked up their first starter deck. Since the meta changed so much
since the debut of this card it got placed in either the common pile
(Starter Deck) or in the binder (LOB). Now this card can do some harsh
damage to your opponent. Say good-bye to 'D. D. Warrior Lady' before she can
enter battle and use her effect. But most people would say that 'Bottomless
Trap Hole' is better which is true in most cases, but it still sees a lot
more play than 'Trap Hole'. Wouldn't you love to see your opponent's face
when they watch their strong monsters head for the Graveyard with such an
old card?
3. 'Secret Barrel' (MFC Common/Trap Card)
TEXT: 'Inflict Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the
total number of cards on your opponent's side of the field and in your
opponent's hand x 200 points.'
This can be one of many devastating direct damage cards in the game (I speak
from experience). The only cards you see in today's meta that do direct
damage is the dreaded cookie-cutter 'Magical Scientist' deck. This card
combines with tons of cards in the game like 'Cyber Jar', 'Card
Destruction', 'Pot of Greed', and the list keeps going and going. This is
nice way to start or end a duel before your opponent realized what happened
to some or the rest of their LP. With the lack of trap negators with the
exception of 'Jinzo' this card's effect is hard to stop.
4. 'After Genocide' (LOD Rare/Spell Card)
TEXT: 'This card can only be activated during Main Phase 1. All monsters on
both sides of the field that have been involved in damage calculation are
destroyed during the End Step of the turn.'
Want to get rid of your opponent's 'Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the
Beginning'? For some LP damage to you - you can. Use a monster that you
won't mind heading to the Graveyard like 'Helpoemer' for example. It would
cost you 1000 LP when ';Helpoemer' attacks, but you'd still receive his
effect but at the end of your turn say bye to BLS. This card can wipe out
your opponent's monsters with ease if you don't mind losing some LP which
can be a bit of a downside. But that's what recovery cards are for.
5. 'Spiritualism' (LON Rare/Spell Card)
TEXT: 'Return 1 Magic or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field to
his/her hand. This card's activation and effect cannot be negated by any
other card.'
A little better than 'Giant Trunade' with the exception of that only returns
1 card on your opponent's side of the field. But the effect states that it
can't be negated, meaning no Magic/Spell negation effect can stop this card.
So you can use this card with IO (pre-ban) or 'Spell Canceller' on the
field. This card can stop the up and coming Light/Fairy decks by returning
'Sanctuary in the Sky'. There are a lot of cards out there that this card
can return by frustrating your opponent at the most opportune time for you.
6. 'Dark Cat with White Tail' (MFC Common/Monster Card)
TEXT: 'FLIP: Select 2 Monster Cards on your opponent's side of the field and
1 Monster Card on your side of the field and return them to their owners'
hands.'
Not seeing very much play if any at all. You may want to consider using this
card over a 'Penguin Soldier'. Maybe there's a monster on your side of the
field summoned by 'Cyber Jar''s effect that you don't want there and your
opponent has at least 2 high powered monsters or a monster or 2 that have
Flip Effects you don't want activated. This card can give you the edge you
may need late in the duel to come back from a near defeat, like returning 2
Chaos monsters to your opponent's hand which will force them to remove 4
more monsters from play if they want to play them again. This card has much
more potential than people think.
7. 'Man-Eater Bug' (LOB Super Rare/Monster Card)
TEXT: 'FLIP: Destroy 1 monster on the field (regardless of position).'
Another card from the dawn of Yu-Gi-Oh! that no one except newbies use
according to my observations. Not many players realize that this is possibly
the most powerful monster in the game (effect wise). This little insect can
destroy the most used monsters in the game like the envoys and MS. I think
this card should come back into play like many of the older cards such as
'Fissure' and 'Tribute to the Doomed'.
8. 'Michizure' (PSV Rare/Trap Card)
TEXT: 'You can activate this card when your monster is sent from the field
to the Graveyard. Destroy 1 monster on the field.'
If your monster is destroyed in ANY way you can wipe out a monster on the
field unless it was removed from play instead of being sent to the
Graveyard. With many of the so called 'staples' now gone, monster removal is
one of those things that duellists are searching for day in and day out.
'Michizure' is one of the cheapest monster removal cards and one of the most
effective that is now unlooked and has been for a while (since PSV at
least). I say seriously take a look at this card to give variety to your
monster removal arsenal.
9. 'Cemetery Bomb' (SOD Common/Trap Card)
TEXT: 'Inflict 100 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points for each
card in his/her Graveyard.'
With the speed in today's meta, Graveyards pile up fast. This card is
underrated for the low 100 points of damage per card. 100 points can add up
quickly near the end or middle of a duel. Chaos decks are very vulnerable to
this card since they try to pile up their Graveyards quickly. In one turn I
seen this card do 3500 points of damage 4 turns into a duel against a Chaos
deck. Take note of cards that have high potential like this one.
10-A. 'Dark Mimic LV1' (SOD Common/Monster Card)
TEXT: 'FLIP: Draw 1 card from your deck. Also, during your Standby Phase,
send this face-up card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 'Dark Mimic LV3'
from your hand or Deck.'
10-B. 'Dark Mimic LV3' (SOD Rare/Ultimate Rare/Monster Card)
TEXT: 'If this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, the
controller of this card draws 1 card from his/her Deck. If this card was
Special Summoned by the effect of 'Dark Mimic LV1', he/she draws 2 cards
instead.
The 'Dark Mimics' give a quick hand advantage. With 'Graceful Charity' on
the ban list, it's always good to look at other cards to give hand advantage
and I would put these 2 at the top of the list next to 'Pot of Greed'. And
if you can keep 'Dark Mimic LV1' on the field until your Standby, Special
Summoning LV3 will gain you 2 more cards after your Draw Phase giving you 3
cards at the start of your turn. LV1 has a similar effect to a current
Japanese card known as 'Skelengle', but draw power is always appreciated as
any duellist will tell you. 'Dark Mimic LV3' will grant you a card if it's
destroyed as a result of battle if not summoned by LV1. Gaining cards on
your opponent's turn also gives a sizable advantage.

Reverse Trap is pretty underrated in my opinion, mostly cuz when it was made the localization teams didn t translate it very well. As the name implies, the turn you activate it all increases and decreases in ATK and DEF are reversed. For example if someone used Axe of Despair to give Blue Eyes 4000 ATK you can activate Reverse Trap and make it so his ATK is 2000 instead for that turn XD

Elemental Hero Necroshade
People say this isn't a good card to use, but if used with Future Fusion or discard it by another card's effect, it's a great way to get out Bladedge or Neos faster. And E Heroes really need that advantage if they want to survive.

I think burden of the mighty and reload are under rated. I rarely see those in tournaments but can very very helpful support cards. Reload is also really helpful in a tight spot when you have no other option
