If you have the receipt dated 2 months ago you are entitled to a free Vista upgrade DVD :

If you purchase an HP or Compaq Windows Vista Capable * Notebook PC, Desktop PC, or HP Digital Entertainment Center between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007 ...

Just go to the link above ... you may have to pay for shipping but Vista Home Premium 32bit will be free.

First of all i dont think you should upgrade, Vista is not so good and is vulnerable to many viruses. its like mac OSX which may look user friendly but vulnerable to more than 12 types of viruses that OS9 was protected against. just stick with XP but if you insist

If you work for a company that uses many computers or you have a friend who works at one, then you just have to request a copy for upgrading, and they will give it to you for free, i would know because my dad works for a corperation and they always give the free software to upgrade a home computer for "working at home" but im not completely sure if the companies have it yet. i got 95, 98 and XP from my dads company its pretty awsome but i dont think we will upgrade to Vista its pretty risky

HP will send you upgrade disk. Use the link above they will charge shipping and handling. They may also charge an additional fee depending on what version of xp was installed on your computer.
