Has anyone had it and it actually worked?

Yes!
I went to see my doctor for my last appointment. (should have been the 2nd to the last) and I saw the midwife instead. she told me to lay on my hands during the exam. She said it tilted my pelvis up better. I came to realize that she had my laying on my hands so I would not hit her. It hurt! She told me not to be surprised if I bled a little that night. Then she winked and said not to be surprised if I went into labor. I though "yeah right" I was a week before my due date with my first baby...........
but sure enough. contractions started at midnight, we went to the hospital at 7am, and my Gianna was born at 8:34pm.

The funny part of it was that midwife was on call that next day, and she ended up delivering my baby! She was called off the ball-field from her daughter's game. I told her she deserved it, since she is the one who did this to me.....she just laughed. but she was awesome! I am convinced that midwives really know their stuff.

It isn't unless your body is ready to go into labor. I had mine swept 3 times a week apart in my first pregnancy and still had to be induced.

My doctor did this to me. It hurt, and it did *not* work.

I did however have my bag of waters broken...and that helped for the baby to descend. If I had to do it again, I would refuse to be induced.
