Does douche work for women? Is it healthier to do it or does it not make a difference?

It depends on the preference. Some like to douche after using excessive jellys and foams. Some before sex after their period ends. Douching more than once per month can wash away the good bacteria which fight off infection from bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.

A douche once in a while (like 1-2 times per year) isn't going to cause any problems. However, very frequent douching can upset the normal bacterial balance in the vagina. If you are douching because you have a discharge that is causing pain, burning, itching or smells bad, then you need to see a doctor. Douching as a form of birth control DOES NOT WORK!! If you never douche, I don't see any problem with that either.

Most doctors do not recommend that you douche as it can change the pH (acidity level) of your vagina. This pH change can allow the naturally present yeast spores to proliferate and cause a yeast infection - as well as make you more succeptible to other problems.

Some feel that if you smell bad "down there" that a douche can help clean it up. Theoretically it could, but the premise of squirting either vinegar water or baking soda water up your vagina to clean it is faulty. Primarily, the force of the water squirting could cause the contaminate (whatever it is) to be washed farther into you - potentially causing more problems.

The best thing to do - if there is a bad smell or discharge - is to see a doctor. Some bad smells or discharges can indicate a disease situation rather than just poor hygiene. Given a chance, a healthy person's vagina cleans itself just as your nose would clean itself if you accidentally got pop, for example, up your nose.

Douche is NOT important for women.. It's dangerous because it causes infections.

Your body cleans itself.

well it depends on what you want a douche to work for. For vaginal infections, a vinegar and water douche helps. For cleanliness, it just upsets the natural balance.

Check with a health professional if you have an infection. If not, leave well enough alone.

They say Douching disturbs your body's normal PH and if done too often can cause to have yeast infection. Your body naturally cleanse itself out. Your body has to have a certain, PH (toward the acidic side) to keep bacteria at bay...when your PH is too alkaline bacteria can start to grow.

It is healthier not to douche. I hear its actually worse for your body if you do douche. You don't need it, just keep yourself clean. :)

DON'T DO IT. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

The vagina is a self-cleaning organ. Douching is a dangerous practice and it never has been necessary. for any reason.

I'm giving you links about feminine hygiene. Use them.

YES....do you know how a can of tuna smells like?! I suspect so and if you don't be lucky you are young enough to learn. Of course, it helps to clean inside. Do you wish for a male to clean himself...or not? It is, with all the stink you may get involved in (no pun intended) a way to keep fresh and be your all for your man.

No I think you were created to not need them. If you have an infection then you need to seek medical attention. Only have protected sex and you should be fine.
