Like growing a few inches because I've noticed that a couple days. I've been getting 8 hours of sleep.

Teens do go through growth spurts where it looks like they have grown inches over night. I really don't know if that happens or not, but I do know that my daughter in a matter of 4 months grew about 6 inches. It seemed everytime I looked at her, she was taller.

Growth occurs during sleep, but not in inches in one night. Getting 8 hours of sleep is terrific. It allows your heart to rest, your brain cells to do what they need to do, etc. Your body is a wonderful machine, but just as with a car, we need to stop and give it a rest, and not go too fast. Burns out the motor, and just so in our bodies...get that sleep, and your body will be fine. But inches, no. We would all be giants, wouldn't we, if that were so.

Yes, your body grows (and repairs itself) when you sleep (and while you're awake, for that matter). However, growth is such a gradual process that you are not likely to notice a change over a couple days - no matter how much sleep you're getting.

If you are getting more sleep than you used to, it's probably because your body or mind needs it. Enjoy it.

Growth hormone (somatostatin) is released mostly during sleep but the release is also dependent on many other factors, including stress, exercise, nutrition + other factors that we don't know.
There is no known relationship between the amount of time one sleeps and the body height.

You grow during sleep and get shorter in waking hours. Sleep longer than you keep awake and you'll be taller. Don't keep awake too long or you'll get shorter again. Someone I know sleeps all the time and is eight feet, seven.

Certainly, and indeed maybe more rapidly than otherwise given that the vertical impact of gravity on the skeleton is lower

sort of
when you lie down to sleep, there is no gravity on your back. the bones on the spine space themselves out because they are not being forced together and you get taller

yeah, the only time you grow is in your sleep. not sure if how much you get affects it though
