Try to reboot in Safe mode with networking. (Start your computer, press F8 few times till you see a list where you can select Safe Mode with Networking).
1. Scan for viruses and spyware
2. Download and install Service pack 2 for Windows XP at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en (!!!!!!! choose the right language, the language of your OS before downloading the service pack, !!!!! deny any action when installing service pack) then restart your OS in Normal mode. If you still have the problem, reinstall your operating system (or recover it using recovery CD's, if you got ones from the manufacturer). If you still have the problem then the motherboard is probably damaged. Contact to a technician.
But that's just interesting how you ask at yahoo (how you access yahoo) if you have problem with your pc?

Yeah, this could be bad, reboot hit F8 before the logo screen boot to safe mode, if you can't do that you may have a hardware issue or a very corrupted operating system. If you get it to boot to safe mode go to start, run type in chkdsk /f and restart, watch you screen very closely if it repairs then you may be ok, if you see any number in front of Bad Sectors shut down your PC immediately if you value your data. if you don't get any bad sectors and it still loops try again only this time use chkdsk /r this will take longer. Good Luck, if I was you I would make an Image if you know how.

Hit F8 at startup and pick "disable automatic restart of Windows" and see if you get a Blue Screen that will give you info. If that doesn't work try going to F8 adv options menu again and do in this order: first try last known good config., safe mode, and if still doesn't work, put in Windows XP CD and boot to it and run a repair of Windows.

Could you give more details? Does it start differently? Faster? Slower? Different screens? Is the power supply plugged in?

I had the same problem once with one of my laptops and it was a shitty harddrive.

that can be one of a hundreed problems. try booting in safe mode, that will rule out a hardware problem if it works. if it does, use system restore.
