i was watching animal cops and this lady had a dead boxer in her back yard and 3 flea infested rotts with NO food or water in sight... all she got was 6 months probation.. I think she needed 6 months jail with NO FOOD OR WATER personally.

Yes - I absolutely think there should be a harsher punishment. I was just telling someone that today. It's been on the news a little more lately, and I can't believe how easily people are let off for neglecting, beating, even torturing/killing animals. Animals feel pain the same way we do, and because they can't speak for themselves, it should totally be our job to protect them. Like the person before me said, they are defenseless. They're innocent and don't deserve to be mistreated. I would be happy to see people who commit animal cruelty rot in jail for years, especially since, if you can hurt an animal, you can definitely hurt a person, and society needs to be more aware about that in general.

I definitely think animal cruelty laws should be much more severe, and much more like the penalty for harming a human being.

hi there 6 month for me is little time yes more harsher punishment should be given cause animals don't speak we need people who care out there in the real world but we do not have as much as lawyers for the people. maybe it's time we speak to congress about this I really never hear any talk concering animals rights. good point. I will look into this. but every state is different and country. I cry when I use to see that show I can not watch it I get mad upset.

If only because maximum occupation criminals get their commence through abusing animals, that is an undeniable actuality shown through both the medical and regulation communities. Tom J: operating example: a guy in Michigan abducted and killed his ex's canine with a chainsaw, and sends it is dismembered body lower back to her in a field. They sadistic bastard receives a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in penal complicated for animal cruelty,.... it is all. against the law like that benefits a a concepts more desirable punishment because someone who ought to do this to an animal ought to genuinely do the same to a baby or an human being without blinking a watch.

I definitely believe that animal cruelty deserves more harsh punishment. I think a person who is convicted of cruelty to animals should be put on a registered animal offender list by the police. They should never be allowed to own animals again. Jail time would be good, but too costly. I think community service wearing hot pink vests with big, bold words -- ANIMAL ABUSER on them would be a good idea.

I think in some cases people should get more. You do have to remember that this is a TV show and you don't know every detail in things. A lot of times a situation looks really bad, but when you classify it it doesn't fit some major categories and you have to give people a break. Also, if the owners work with the police they are given lesser sentences. I think they should get more, but I always remember that it's all law that's holding this stuff together and there's always a way around the law :-(

I think they do need a penalty that will either prevent them from ever wanting an animal again, or actually learning how to treat them. Hurt them where it counts.....the pocket book! Start making them pay alot of money for what they've done. The fines that they pay now are pitiful. Make them pay the fines they pay now but add on a donation of $500 to the local animal shelter. And then make them do community service by working at animal shelters too.

I definitely think those people deserve harsher punishments for those crimes... i think people would be appalled if humans were treated that poorly. I mean just because they are animals that doesn't mean they can be treated so brutally........i actually became a vegetarian after hearing stories about animal cruelty.

I agree with you completely! Animal cruelty deserves a much harsher punishment! I think whatever abuse they do should be done to them in turn so they can see how it feels.

Yes, the punishment should be much harsher. It should be the same as what she would have recieved had she a dead infant and 3 infested lepers in her backyard.

Some people sicken me.
