He's not Johnny Depp in these movies. (He becomes his character in all his movies, but these are special...) He is Ed Wood. He is Gilbert Grape. He is Hunter S. Thompson (Raoul Duke). He embodies these people and it's amazing. He is just unbelievably mesmerizing in these films. You forget that you're watching Johnny Depp. What an amazingly talented actor. Where's his Oscar?!

Oh, that is a hard one because I adore Johnny Depp. Would be a toss-up between the first Pirates movie, Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood.

I have to agree with one of the other answers, FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS is hands down my favorite Johnny Depp film. I am also a fan of Hunter Thompson and the book the movie was based on. I thought the film did good justice to the book and Johnny was amazing as Hunter!

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Depp became Hunter S Thompson and the Terry Gilliam film was very true to the source material by the good doctor. RIP HST.
