Check out the American College of Nurse Midwives website (link below) - it'll tell you how to get started. There are also some other great midwifery sites below that will help you get started.

If you decide that the training that a midwife requires is too much for you, being a doula is a less medical alternative...doulas do not actually deliver babies, but provide labor support. The link for Doulas of North America is below too.
