I need ipod help?

My dad has an ipod nano and he wants to buy an ipod video and he wants to transfer all the music he has on his ipod nano into his video but he got his nano updated on his friends computer but he deleted all the music, so is there a way to connect his nano onto my computer and somehow save the music onto a folder or something and then when he buys his video transfer the music onto his video?

i tried saving it on itunes but the music wont drag onto itunes
