I absolutely had morning sickness! I am an elementary teacher and it was very hard to show up for work for about 3 months! I threw up everyday until 16 weeks. It was a very scary thing, since I wasn't gaining any weight. Cheez-Its and ice water seemed to help the nausea, but nothing got rid of it. My doctor put me on a pill called Reglan- I was very afraid to take it at first, but I was more afraid of not feeding my growing baby. I tried it and finally started being able to eat and gain weight. I was only on it for about 4 weeks and would only take it in the morning, when my sickness was at its worst. It did not come back after 16 weeks.
I recommend a book published by BabyCenter called "The guide to pregnancy and birth". Not only will this give you a guide for eating well and staying away from harmful activities, but it gives you a weekly update of what your baby looks like and how it's developing. It also gives advice from other mothers at your stage in pregnancy. You can also sign up for a weekly newsletter at Babycenter.com.
As for a miscarriage, chances are very good that you will not have one- and those chances get even better after the 12-week mark. You will forever be worrying about your child- enjoy this time when you know it can't be anyplace safer than inside of your belly. I'm sure you're already taking great care of him/her. Good luck.

Well congratulations, this is my first pregnancy as well. Yes I did get morning sickness well I should say "11am - 8pm" sickness. It was terrible but I've just hit the second trimester and feel fine. I can understand that your particually worried, because I am but don't worry too much becuase that is not good for the baby. Just enjoy it. Talk to the doctor or get a book on pregnancy if your worried about what to be eating or not to be eating. Get some folic acid, so important because it can stop spidal defects etc. Anyways enjoy it while it lasts because it will be over before you know it. There are times when I can't believe that I'm almost 15 weeks gone! Good luck I'm sure your baby will be fine:)

I am 14 weeks pregnant and have been sooo lucky to not be cursed with morning sickness. There were times in the first trimester when i would feel a little icky at night, but not to the point where i was throwing up. Really not bad at all.
Something I was surprised to hear that we are supposed to avoid is lunchmeat. It can carry a bacteria or something called Listeria, which affects the fetus more than average people. Look it up online, because I'm not being specific enough.
Good luck! I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months.

You sound so excited!! I am very happy for you! :)
"Morning" sickness typically occurs in the first trimester and I've noticed that it's more likely to occur in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc pregnancies more than first. It doesn't mean it can't. It's just something I've noticed. I hope you don't experience it at all but it can occur at any time during the day. I had it all day, every day. NOT FUN!
Read a lot about pregnancy and childbirth and you'll do fine. Congratulations!

I didn't have morning sickness w/ either of my pregnancies (23 weeks w/ #2). I also had a short period w/ #1 and thought I might be farther along, but I wasn't. You should avoid Shark, tilefish, King mackeral, sushi, and Swordfish. Limit other fish to 12 oz a week. No green tea and no herbal tea either. Also, make sure all dairy products are pasturized. Good luck!

Eat good lean protein foods eggs, beef, turkey, fish, and other lean meats. ,stay away from sweets and salty foods, stay away from caffiene,go for walks and breath clean air, stay away from chemicals, drink milk, eat salads.drink plenty of water and get enough leafy greens.they say to stay away from tuna fish.
Whenever I felt morning sickness I had a couple bites of a scrambled egg or a hardboiled egg and it subsided.
And be careful not to breath the fumes when you get gas for your car. If you clean a kitty litter-box wear gloves. Any smell can offend the morning sickness like stinky bathrooms or cleaning chemicals. if someone else can do the cleaning while you are pregnant that would be great, then you wouldn't take a chance to breath it in. Don't color your hair.etc.
