How bizarre. I don't have a problem with stem cell research - finding a cure for degenerative diseases would be great. But making chimeras? I don't understand how a human skin cell inside of an animal egg would produce something 99% human. It's a little too Island of Dr. Meroux for me...
If it is a procedure that proves to be both beneficial to the advancements of medicine and not detrimental in any way, then I probably wouldn't oppose it. But I think there needs to be decades of research to prove that there are no long term side affects before it ever becomes a common practice.

Personally I don't like the idea, and am glad the British government is banning this practice.

When the science discovered one thing which is potentially dangerous, good and bad come out of it. For example: discovery of nuclear!
It means if we solve one problem, another pops up; and worst yet to come.
