I'm gonna buy a new notebook PC for myself pretty soon. I asked some of my friends what brand of notebook shall I choose. Almost 90% of them(they all have notebooks themselves) said that Dell probably is the best. I did a research on all the PC brands through all the ads this weekend and I also found some good deals about hp and Toshiba.

I'm really confused right now. I'm just buying a PC for regular usage, and it seems all the people around me said that Dell is the best. What do you think? What are some of the reasons for choosing Dell?

Thank you for answering.

Oh! What's wrong with all the people in this page! Wow!

I have got a Dell notebook for almost 8 years and it's still working just fine! Definitely go for Dell, it's the U.S. leader!

well i think its because dell had such a slogan Dude its a dell.... but really maybe your friends arent tech geeks and dell is the only brand they know.... i use a Toshiba satellite, its pretty useful if you have a wireless router because of the internal wireless card. It all depends on what you are going to do with your computer. but dont get the best because in about 6 months you will see a that computer for 300 dollers less. if you want a laptop they usually are more compact but they have less overall memory and higher price, desktops have more storage and sometimes more computing power but they dont have mobility. some companies i would recommend is Acer, or toshiba is not too bad if you are in for the notebooks. dell, im not too experienced with them but i prefer the other companies.

I am a 7 year service tech. The most units we see are the HP Z and D models failing the most. Absolute junk in a pretty package. Sony works on a two teir repair level that is very expensive. They are not the company they used to be.
I recommend Avertec or Toshiba for the most dependable and reasonable to repair and hold for the buck.

I work in a company computer department. Dell computers used to be good computers. They are not so great now. Actually, they are junk. I would recommend HP laptops as the best way to go. Our company has dell and hp, and the hp has proven to be a better computer.

Most people would recommend Dell because Dell advertises very well. Their slogan's memorizable, etc. Meaning, Dell's been burned into our heads. On the other hand, most people only know of Dell.

And, Dell advertising such cheap prices, of course they'll recommend them. But, you get what you pay for.

I say IBM..... some people choose Dell for the customer support. HOWEVER, you should only make that you main choice if you speak Hindi. Sadly, their outsourced tech support in India is not very easy to work.
