Where are all you guys on my serious questions? This question was the equivalent of chum and all the sharks responded. For those who read my questions and answers, do you not think I realize even if it did pass Congress, President Bush will veto the bill?

It does not matter. Anything that the house passed in the last month cannot get the 60 votes needed to pass in the senate. All that was accomplished was phony posturing and wasting time and money. President Bush still has the last word any way.

Minimum varies arcoss states and smaller states usually have smaller economies that cant handle the wage hike like NY, or CA. Minimum wage is mandate from the goverment to pay a worker a certian wage that costs money on part of the taxpayer to fund that mandate. Yes, people do care about the plight of the poor, but thier other ways to address the low wages than doing it by goverment mandate. Hey, in Sweden they do not got a minimum wage requirement because the goverment will give tax credits till the wages hit above poverty level.. Its cheaper to allow flexiblity on the local goverment level what is minimum require to scrap and give tax credits that way. Also, raising the wage above the equilbruim for a small business means the owner has to raise prices, or let worker go to pay the higher minimum wage. Think about the economies of Miss, AL, TN they raise the wage it creates inflation on goods because the cost of living is so low.

If the state goverment wants to mandate a wage that is fine, but markets should actually determine wages, and if people are over 20, and working full-time give give tax credits meet the poverty level. Also, the Untied States goverment already does give tax credits if your making below the poverty level anyways so the democrats are wasting time.

Because raising the minimum wage makes no (nada, zero, none) sense economically! All it will do is raise the cost of items and soon the increase in wages will have no effect on the people who are supposed to benefit from the wage hike. Simple economics. If you want lower prices encourage competition. Supply and demand ? What was that? eh? Oh I see you never heard of that stuff. That's what the Democrats are counting on!

raising the minimum salary involves various creating plans. The trickle down result ability organizations ought to cost extra for each thing with the intention to keep up...etc... the tremendous photo must be regarded at, no longer merely observed. I artwork an hourly salary. Granted that is way above the minimum, i'm no longer wealthy, yet I stay less than my ability. I stay exceptionally properly for what I do. I continuously have money left over on the end of the month.

A National minimum wage is unfair to different regions! Costs of living vary by States! Most States already have much higher Minimums in place! Also, it would make it even easier for undocumenteds to usurp even more jobs!!
It should be, and is, regulated by the States!

Added--Ever consider the devious nature of the Dimobrats? Raise wages, and you raise the amount of people into higher TAX brackets and in effect raise TAXES! Nobody's life improves but Congressmen who will use it to justify another raise for themselves and again the un-documented job thieves whose lives just got easier and more profitable!

It does not take any compassion to create a law which requires OTHER PEOPLE to pay X amount of wages. If YOU have compassion for people who are not earning enough wages that they can provide for themselves, then YOU donate money to charitable causes. But passing a law which requires that OTHER PEOPLE have to increase THEIR payroll expenditures does not demonstrate YOUR compassion.

And, for your information, back in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson appointed a fellow Democrat by the name of James McReynolds to the U.S. Supreme Court and McReynolds was a STAUNCH opponent of minimum wage laws. He always voted on the Court to "strike down" all minimum wage laws.

Economics 101! One more time! Once the Companies, have to increase their Overhead. They're gonna have to pass on the increase, to the consumer. (Genius). There isn't one Company that will eat up the extra cost of paying more to Employees. so the rise will be taken up by increase in cost of Products and Services. Can't you Lib's even crunch numbers? You can't turn off, CNN, long enough to do your Homework.

It has nothing to do with compassion but common sense in the field of economics. To make a small business pay more is to put them out of business. The repercussions will be damaging to those who own "mom and pop shops, and those just going into business for themselves.

There is a reason MOST successful businessmen are Republicans. They can better understand the impact of this decision.
Wages will go up and so will prices.
The solution is for people making min. wage to get a better education so they can get a well paying job.

Honey, minimum wage isn't the right thing to do. All prices will go up, and the person making minimum wage will still be in the same situation he was in before. But all of us will be paying higher prices.
