Is there supposed to be a carte blank rule that no character played by a young actress can ever be raped as part of the plot? Or were there other reasons for the objection - surely, she wasn't NAKED, was she???

I hadn't even heard about it. I tend to think after seeing some of the films she's been in, like the one where her father was schizo and war of the worlds - the little mite must be quite used to horrific scenes. Lets hope it hasn't made an impact. How old is she by the way?

I read an article about that and they said you don't see nothing. She isn't naked. Dakota also said she didn't have a problem with doing that rape scene. If she didn't have a problem, no one else should be fussing about it. Let her do what she has to do. I give her props!

People were making a big deal out of it because she is so young... but she is very mature for her age. It's acting... this isn't going to scar her for life or anything. It was a job and I'm sure she did it well.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about either, since the rape isn't graphically depicted and they don't show Dakota nude. It's all implied for the most part, only indicated by what is heard.

For those non-believers out there, here's the 5-page scene (with a note from the director herself) right here in black and white, courtesy of thesmokinggun.com:

I don't know why people have a problem with Dakota Fanning's character getting raped in the movie "Hound Dog"! Tragically, in real life, lots of little girls get raped - so why can't movies depict that sad fact of life? Maybe if movies talked about child sexual abuse more, it would happen less in real life - and be more quickly reported when it does happen!

i read the article and what it all boils down to is that when she first made an appearance on screen she was a little girl and thats how everyone is used to seeing her not realizing that she is gonna grow up one day. also what about when she gets older and is of age and decides that she wants to do a romantic scene or a sex scene will they still have the stereotype that shes just a little girl. and no she wasnt naked. i wish her all the best of luck cuz shes one hell of an actress

she is NOT naked and all you get to see are her hands and face and the screaming that goes with this scene.

like anything it's the extreme religious groups who think they know it all and have it all for say. Saying that a little girl like Dakota can't have chosen that kind of a role and that she was pressured into taken it and that she is to young to realize to know what kind of role she is actually playing.

Anyone who has see her movies who has seen her giving any kind of interview knows that this girls is truly a more then child like kid. She is smart and knows what she is talking about.

This might come to a shock to all those religious people who want to boy cot this movie but children do get hurt and sexually abused by adults and it's about time that we all open our eyes.

Dude I read an editorial about that movie, it is a pedophile's wet dream. The rape scene isn't the worst part clearly if you hear about the whole thing.

I don't think her character was raped, and I don't think she was naked. (I'm not positive on this) But I think all the fuss her being too young to be in that scene. I think she's just in the room or something while someone is getting raped.
