By definition, charter schools in Michigan are independent public schools. Therefore, no charter school in Michigan can have a religious philosophy. Charter schools are "authorized" by an entity such as a public university, an intermediate school district, or a community college. As a public school, charter schools may not charge tuition. Funding comes through the per-student allocation that every public school in Michigan receives. Anyone may go to a charter school, but many have long waiting lists with limited class sizes.
