My husband.
How? He's a farmer. You can consider this a high risk job - he works rain or shine, sniffles, sore back, flu, or whatever. If he can physically get out of bed, he has to. If not, a neighbor or myself help out where we can. He's had to use the doctor on a few occassions for things that just wouldn't go away after 2 weeks and been out excessive amounts of money for a simple doctor's visit. He's handled more than his share of pain because he couldn't afford the $2000 for the operation.
Is it fair? No. But what's the alternative?

Just pray that you dont ever get sick. They will put your next of kin into indentured servitude or send collection agencies after them to pay to remove your dead body from the curb outside the hospital.
For once, when me or a family member got sick, would I like to walk into the friendly neighborhood ER and the first question they ask me is, "Are you OK? Can I help you?" not, "may I see your insurance card please?"
Hey, Im bleeding here, whats the priorities?
Oh, and by the way, I have a degree as a medical proffesional myself. Worked 2 full time jobs before I got diagnosed with a brain tumor and still couldnt afford insurance, so yes, had to resort to falling upon my fellow tax-paying Americans (many of whom also have no insurance because it is more expensive than what even those of us who are totally opposite of lazy can afford) to save my life. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you, you saved my life as much as the surgeon did. It just doesnt seem fair that you had to foot the bill, but thank you all the same.

I don't have health insurance but the hospitals offer patients who have no insurance either 40 percent off or they will pay if the bill is too much for the patient. you should talk with a financail advisor at the hospital and let them know as they will help you. also the drug company;s will pay for your medication if your on anything. just contact them.
