There's plenty of things to do right at Walt Disney World. What sort of activities is your child into? Take a trip to Downtown Disney and check out all the different shops. Your child will love the World of Disney Store, Disney's Days of Christmas Store, and Lego store. There's also the DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park. Kids love it there! Admission into Downtown Disney is free, of course, but it costs between $30 and $35 for admission into DisneyQuest.
Maybe go over to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. They have a small petting zoo and they offer pony rides for the young children, as well as regular horseback riding. The Resort (and a few others) also offer guided fishing excursions - they're a lot of fun!
Walt Disney World is also home to two wonderful miniature golf courses - Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland. Kids usually enjoy mini golf, and these particular mini golf courses are a lot of fun. And I can't imagine it's too much money to play.
Here are a few special activities that are offered to younger children...
Grand Adventures in Cooking
Have a delicious time painting an apron, decorating your very own chef's hat and whipping up tasty treats. (For children ages 4-10)
Wonderland Tea Party
Join Alice and her curious friends for lunch, cupcakes and, of course, a spot of tea. (For children ages 4-10)
Disney's Pirate Adventure
Don yer garb and set sail to exotic ports-of-call in search of buried treasure. (For children ages 4-10)
Also, don't forget about the Disney Water Parks. There are two - Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Typhoon Lagoon is my personal favorite, but both are awesome. If your child likes playing in the water, they'll love the water parks. They have large areas especially for the younger children, but then there's also water slides and the big wave pool if they're fearless of the water.
Hope I could help! Have fun!

RESTAURANTS:
A great place to dine and play would be McDonald's off Sand Lake RD and International Drive (IDrive). It is home to the world's biggest play place, that offers a variety of food beyond the typical Burger and fries. I'm 19 years old and even I have fun at this McDonald's. It is a fun, cheap, must see, and according to Travel Channel Ranked #2 in their Most Unique McDonald's. http://www.mcfun.com/rest7_3896.shtml
I had so much fun here great show, good food, wonderful staff. What more could you ask for, right?!? Pirates Dinner Adventure, easily accessible off IDrive, and especially after Pirates of the Caribbean and the hype over it now, this might be a great place to take the little one. http://www.piratesdinneradventure.com/florida/home.html
If your child is into cars as all the others that I know then they'll absolutely love Race Rock. From the moment you see it down the street (or even off I-4), to the moment you leave you are in car/truck/boat... heaven. Both my little brother and cousin love this place so much that we had to nearly drag them out. They have anything and everything to keep the little ones entertained for awhile.

ATTRACTIONS:
This place might resemble the theme park, it is completely different, and fun. Hence the name Fun Spot, with go-karts, an arcade, smaller rides for the younger ones... http://www.fun-spot.com/
Intellectual yet fun and interesting all at the same time. Where else but at Kennedy Space Center, although it isn't in Orlando, this is a must see when visiting FL. It's not only great fun for the little one but for you as well. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/home/index.html
The building alone will catch their little eyes, unless they see upside down buildings all the time. WonderWorks wonderful for the whole family, with tons of fun, interactive, mind boggling experiences. http://www.wonderworksonline.com/html/default.htm
If your child is fascinated by gators then Gatorland could be a great stop. It's nothing like SeaWorld or Busch Gardens, Gatorland is very unique and different as it's more of a wild life preserve than thempark. http://www.gatorland.com/ (Also a coupon for Gatorland http://www.gatorland.com/park/coupon-specials.html )
If you are visiting the St. Pete area then here are some things that are worth checking out all definitly family friendly and some of my favorite places when I was a kid.
With a huge endless amount of interesting things this is one of my favorite places. The Florida Aquarium located in Tampa with plenty to do for a great price. http://www.flaquarium.org/index.html
Now although I haven't been here in a few years as a kid this was one of my favorite places. Mosi is a great hands on museum that teaches you in a fun way. http://www.mosi.org/
If animals are what fasinates everybody then try Lowry Park Zoo. Cheaper then Busch Gardens with more to see can't be too bad right. http://www.lowryparkzoo.com/
You are also surrounded by some gorgeous beaches, if you want a day of relaxation. Good luck, and enjoy your trip down here to the beautiful Sunshine State.

Central Florida has so many things to see and do! Visit one of Florida's beautiful beaches. Cocoa Beach is the closest at a 45 minute drive. It is a great family beach and it even has a large arcade right by the pier.
My favorite beach is Siesta Key, located in Sarasota. It is a longer drive - about an hour and 45 minute drive south of Orlando, but it is well worth it. This beach doesn't have large waves and is very shallow for a long ways out - great for young children. It is also known for its baby-powder soft pure white sand.
Try a dinner show one night! Medieval Times, located off Hwy 192 in Kissimmee is a great location! Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, located right off I-4 and exit 68 is also a great place to enjoy a meal and see a great show.
Take the kids to Kennedy Space Center - they have something for everyone to see and do. Its amazing.
Another favorite of my family is to take an airboat ride and see the real Florida. I recommend Boggy Creek Airboat Rides, located in Poincicana, just outside Kissimmee. It is the best way to enjoy Florida's natural landscape and see animals in the wild, including gators! They also offer Safari tours.
