1.) we have numerous resources that draw tourists from around the world (recreation is considered a resource).
3.) we have the first wilderness area ever designated in the united states (gila wilderness)
4.) mineral extraction is extensive (coal mining is popular, the Chino open-pit copper mine is one of the largest in the United States, and uranium mining in the northwestern part of the state is starting up again)
5.) our wildlife draw hunters and wildlife lovers from all over the world
6.) Agriculture is popular with numerous dairy farms and alfalfa fields dotting the state
7.) We have plenty of sunshine and wind which could aide in the development of alternative energy power sources
8.) The northern and southern parts of the state are really popular for oil and gas extraction.
All in all, we have open spaces with mountains, deserts, and short grass prairies dotting the landscape. We also have hot springs, lava flows, extractive resources, and large tracts of public lands. It's just as important as any other state.
