It will go out. You must have O2 to support combustion.

Also, it is not the lquid wax that burns, but vapors that come off of the melted wax due to its volatility. A match in the wax does nothing.

it would go out due to lack of oxygen. fire must have air to burn and air is not found in melted wax, at least not enough to fuel a match.
