Please help me! A friend gave me a page of brainteasers and I have figured them all out except for this one.

This is a repeat on Yahoo! Answers.

The best answer I've seen, since you are to "change the position of only one digit" is to raise the 2 upwards slightly so that it is an exponent.

101 - 10^2 = 1.

It's a fun question though, isn't it.

What do you mean changing the position? Can we replace the number? If that's the case, replace 1 with 2.
If we change the position, do we have to put it back somewhere in the equation?
