I am thinking of purchasing a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina GTZ sedan.
It has a 3.8 litre engine and 160K km 100K miles.
I like the 3.8 litre engines reputation and powertrain but am not familiar with what other areas to check for (problems) in this car. Any help or information would be appreciated.

most have plastic intakes that have been recalled because when trying to start they build up fuel pressure and can explode (not pretty) and if it has 4 wheel disc brakes they eat up brakes & rotors fast.

Those 3800 series GM engines are solid. Had one in a early 90s Lumina for 300k miles.

I had a 3.8 in a Camaro and it is a powerhouse for a V-6 and not bad on gas mileage.
