write up still shows you how to remove the thermo stat.

Tools needed
drain pan
10mm wrench or socket
jack and jack stand

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOUR CAR IS STILL HOT! YOU WILL GET BURNED

step 1. Disconnect battery. You dont have to do this step but i do for just in case.

step 2. jack up the passanger side of the car. i used the factory jack point right under where the fender and door meet.

step 3. take the drain pan and place it under the thermostat. alot of the coolant will flow down the bell housing of the tranny.

step 4 using a 10 mm socket or wrench remove the ground cable attached to the thermostat housing. unplug the fan switch next to it.

step 5 using a 10 mm socket or wrench remove the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing. the other bolt is exactly 180 degree's from bolt being removed in the picture. the area is tighter so i would recommend a wrench for removing that bolt.

step 6 pull the thermostat housing back to expose the thermostat. be careful not to damage the fan switch. i replaced mine with a water temperature sensor.

step 7 remove the thermostat and replace it then repeat this process backwards.

And that is how you replace a thermostat.

This is just some extra info. My grandpa told me about a old trick he use to do with his cars. he removed the thermostat and drilled 3 holes in it to allow coolant to still flow a little more.

The hole located at (12 oclock) is one hole that i drilled. be sure to stay away from the bridges on the thermostat. i used a 1/16th drill bit to do this. then i used a dremel to get ride of all the extra metal. then sprayed the thermostat with 110PSI of air to insure that all metal shavings are off the thermostat.
