how does the movie "the butterfly effect" ends?

The ending i saw was where he goes back in time to a party or BBQ or something in his childhood and whispers in the little blond girls ear that he will kill her so that they never become friends. Since they never become friends she chooses to go live with her mother instead of staying with her father. Everything works out for her. At the end he burns the notebooks. Then he's walking down a crowded street carrying a brief case and that girl walks by in a suit, (she appears to be a successful woman now).He turns around to look at her but keeps walking. So they don't end up together.

I think the DVD has several different endings. The ending I know of is that he goes back to when they were small children, makes the girl cry at her party, so she doesn't ever want to get to know him. Then it flash forwards to when they're grown up and he's a successful business man talking to his mom on the phone. He passes the girl on the sidewalk in the city. They both look back at each other like they kind of remember, but that's it.

Well I only saw the directors cut ending. From what my mom tells me the plot adds in the fact the the mom had several miscarries before him and in the end in order to make sure every one is happy he goes back to before he was born using home movies from when his mother was in labor. Then chokes him self with his umbilical cord. Sounds better than the regular ending it almost requires a really deep thinker to catch something like that.

Basically, that movie did have a very strange ending. My best idea of what happened was that he had gone into a state of complete isanity from all of the things that he had changed which sent him to this mental aslyum. So, i think he wasnt crazy to start with, i think he just ended up there after all the changes made him go crazy in one of the scenarios. Maybe it was all a bad dream....

He ends up having to give up the girl for things to be right again, BUT the last scene is them passing each other on the street and apparently having a deja vu moment.

No wait! I think he ends up missing some limbs and the girl is with his friend, but they still hang out with him.

There were so many changes. It's one or the other.

He ends up trying to six what he did to his mothers life by going back in time. He ends up going back to when he was being born and he reverses things so that he does not exist. There is also an alternate ending but I don't think that I've watched it.

the theatrical he kills himself in the womb. not the best ending.
the original when he meets the girl at a birthday party (they are very young, its their first meeting) she comes up to befriend him and he tells her to get away and swears at her, if i remember correctly. they never become friends so she moves away with her mom instead of staying with her dad. her brother goes too.
they pass each other by when they are adults and look back at each other (they are walking in a crowd of people)

i appreciate video clips like the Butterfly result yet i concept that turned right into a foul movie. i did not like it in any respect. i do not recognize all of us else who hates this movie and it type of feels everybody loves it yet i did not like it. i really had to work out it too. I rented it as quickly because it got here out yet become very dissatisfied.
