suppose i have a car that has the capacity of holding 12 gallons of gasoline. petrol in canada is sold by the liter, and you find that th petrol station is charging $0.45 per liter. you think to urself "what a bargain!" since gas is selling in the states for $1.49 per gallon. are you really getting a bargain? why?

3.7854 liters = 1 gallon

$.45 * 3.7854 = price per gallon
Is the answer less than $1.49/gallon? If it's less, then it's a bargain. If the answer to the multiplication is more than $1.49, then it is not a bargain.

And gasoline is more like $2.10 in the U.S. right now.
