Events in US history?

I need to make a timeline for history class and I need 5 major events in US history that have happened any time between 1991 and now. so far I have 9/11 and Bush becoming president. If you can think of anything i need the year and month too but i can look those up so u dont really need to put them.

I dunno if you can list them separately, but GOP-directed "tort reform" and "bankruptcy reform" occurred during that period.

"Tort reform" has effectively eliminated from the law the principle of meaningful accountability for the most egregious offenses.

"Bankruptcy reform" changed everything EXCEPT Chapter 11, thus preserving to major corporations all the historical benefits of bankruptcy, but depriving individual consumers of most of the protections previously afforded them by law.

By giving, to an enemy aggressor having committed an act of war against the USA, unfettered access to the intelligence apparatus of the USA concerning signals intel (aka ELINT), President George W. Bush committed treason against the USA.

Such was the nature and consequence of the 1 APR 2001 disaster involving the EP-3E Aries II flying in international airspace, which was downed by communist Chinese J-8 fighters.

Following the emergency landing of the aircraft, Chinese militia seized the aircraft, imprisoned and interrogated the crew thereof. Following their debriefing by their Chinese captors, the crew were returned 11 days later (i.e.: on 11 APR 2001).

The aircraft and its surveillance equipment were dismantled by the Chinese, who were able to see the unencrypted data gathered until they brought down the aircraft, thus providing them invaluable insight into the calculus of US intelligence planners.

Moreover, the Chinese now know not only exactly for what US intelligence planners are looking (and the details of how the US expects to go about obtaining that information), but also exactly how the US encrypts its information during transmission:

The US ELINT apparatus is now useless against any nation or terrorist organization friendly with China: everything we send or receive is now plainly readable by anyone with whom China shares (or sells) that information.

President George W. Bush determined that the economic benefits of US corporations outsourcing and/or relocating to China outweighed the importance of US national security.

Moreover, President George W. Bush directed the US Department of State to issue the "Letter of Two Sorries" as an apology to the Chinese for their having committed several acts of war against the USA.

While it was in their custody, the Chinese denied the US access to the aircraft.

Adding insult to injury, when their teams had copied all the technology and retrieved all the intelligence data, they loaded the dismantled aircraft into an Antonov An-124 and flew (3 JUL 2001) that to Dobbins AFB in GA, where they unloaded it onto US soil.

The fiasco following Hurricane Katrina (and the soon-following Hurricanes Rita and Wilma) will be long-remembered by many persons from the affected areas.

During that period also occured the illegal war in Afghanistan and all the war crimes associated therewith.

During that period also occured the illegal war in Iraq and all the war crimes associated therewith -- some of which crimes are apart from the context of the war individually notable for their significance.

Examples of the latter include the Abu Ghraib scandal and the rape/murder of an Iraqi girl child and the slaughter of her entire household.
