i am pro-choice. while i can understand the reasons behind being pro-life, i think that the government has no right to tell a woman what to do with her body especially because there is scientific evidence to support that a fetus is not yet technically "alive" until a certain point in the pregnancy. abortions are not given after that time. in addition, there are way too many children born into abusive, dangerous homes and it is really sad to see or hear about what happens to them because their parents are too irresponsible to give it up for adoption. i do not think abortions should be used as birth control, in fact i think you should protect yourself in every way you can to prevent needing to have an abortion but in some cases it just can't be avoided. finally, no matter what the gov't says there are some women who will do anything to get rid of her baby, such as back-alley abortions with pills and a coat-hanger or beating herself or abandoning the baby in the trash. this is very dangerous for the woman and would cause a lot of pain and suffering and probably death for the fetus. i'm not saying you should make everything legal because people are just going to do it anyway, but in many cases abortions are a lot better for the woman and will prevent a child from being born into a bad situation.

I am pro-choice simply because there is no way anyone can justify telling a woman what she can and can't do with her body. On the flip side, I detest the fact that some women use it as a form of birth control. Mainly because I would never consider an abortion. I am an adult who is capable of accepting responsibility for my actions. However, what if the woman were raped? It's the amount of exceptions that would pop up that make the abortion issue ongoing.

Because it's now 2007 and women have 100 ways to "choose" to prevent pregnancy! It's not that difficult. Women should stop being so barbaric- ripping a fetus from the inside of a body sounds medieval. Haven't we progress at all?

It's very simple. Killing innocent human beings is wrong. Every abortion kills an innocent human being. We don't give women the right to kill their born children in the "privacy" of their own homes, and they shouldn't have the right to kill their unborn children, either. There are all kinds of "private decisions" that are illegal, including child abuse, rape, etc. See also:

I myself am against abortion simply because I believe that the baby growing inside of you is already alive. However, I am prochoice. I believe every woman should have the right to choose. No one should make that decision for us.
